P.R.I.D.E (Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education) is a pre-service training that is required for all prospective adoptive parents in the state of Florida. It is a 9-week course that was designed to provide you with a better understanding on the impact of trauma on attachment and child development and tools to parent a child who comes from a hard place.
All prospective adoptive parents are required to attend all sessions of the training. The content from the sessions range from attachment focused parenting to planning for change.
During pre-service training, you will:
- Prepare yourself for adopting a child
- Create a basis for teamwork between yourself and your agency
- Form mutually supportive relationships with other parents and child welfare staff who will be able to help you throughout your journey
- Find answers to any lingering questions you might have about whether you’re ready to adopt and what type of child you can successfully parent
We provide expedited PRIDE training in a weekend format for families who cannot commit to the traditional 9- week training. The training is interactive and informative to help prospective adoptive parents become competent and confident in their ability to provide a healing home for their child. At the end of the course, you will receive a PRIDE certificate which will be valid for 5 years. (Trainings are offered face to face or via live video)
