P.R.I.D.E. (Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education) Adoption Training
P.R.I.D.E. (Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education) is a required pre-service training program for all prospective adoptive parents in the state of Florida. This comprehensive 9-week course equips families with the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to understand the child welfare system and to support the healing, safety, and long-term well-being of children who have experienced trauma.
Because many families face demanding schedules, we offer an expedited weekend training format that delivers the same high-quality content as the traditional 9-week course. Our accelerated program is interactive, engaging, and grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice. Participants learn how to:
- Recognize the impact of trauma on children’s behavior and development
- Promote emotional and physical safety
- Strengthen attachment and build trust
- Respond to challenging behaviors with empathy and structure
- Collaborate effectively with child welfare professionals
By the end of the training, prospective adoptive parents feel better prepared, more confident, and more competent in their ability to provide a nurturing, healing home for a child in need.
Upon completion, you will receive a P.R.I.D.E. certificate valid for five years, satisfying the state’s pre-service training requirement.
